Multiple Anti-virus software’s for Windows- Is it safe?
We always wish our computers to be secure from damages especially from Viruses. There are many Anti-viruses available in the Market like Norton,AVG,Kaspersky etc.
We use Anti-virus software for our computer in order to protect it from getting viruses. But none of them can be 100% secure to save our computers from Viruses. However we also may think of installing multiple anti-viruses at a same time on our computer. But is it safe for our computers or unsafe? It may lead our computer at a serious risk.
The only way to use Multiple Anti-viruses is to disable the real-time protection, self defense and only use it for the purpose of online scanning.
Installing multiple Anti-viruses can have many drawbacks for our computer. When you load any Anti-virus software on your computer it occupies some proportion of your computer memory. Using more Anti-viruses occupies more memory and keeps less memory space in order to save your files and other documents. This will slow down the speed of your computer and your computer may crash down. You will observe an anti-virus icons on the task bar. So if you have two anti-viruses that means actually they both run in background. When you use one anti-virus for scan the virus vault of the other looks like it have files full of viruses and it will try to remove the file and will start malfunctioning and may damage your computer and saved data may also be erased. It also causes random lockups to your computer.
However there are some ways to run multiple anti-viruses on your computer. The Multi AV Scan which is developed by Gakh from HackHound allows you to run on-demand scan by using 10 different types of anti-viruses at a same time .Multi AV Scan currently supports Avira AntiVir,BitDefender, A-Squared,ClamWin,DrWeb, Ikarus, McAfee, Solo, Sophos and VBA32.Contrary to this there are similar tools like KIMS, Multi AV Fixer and Mini AV Scanner but they are no longer in use besides Multi AV Scan.
Besides this you can also look out for free online virus scans. Check out these online anti-virus scans:
1. Virus total:-
The Virus total is one such free online virus scanner that scans files through 32 anti-virus engines. The scanning engine includes Avira (AntiVir),Kaspersky Lab (AVP),McAfee(VirusScan), Symantec (Norton Anti-virus) etc.
2. Virusscan.jotti.org:-
Similar to Virus total but this one supports 18 anti-virus search engines. Some of which includes A-Squared, F-Secure, NOD32,Rising Anti-virus etc.
Online scanning takes quite some time as scanning takes place through multiple anti-virus engines. The processing is slow and high speed internet connection is required to bear the process. But scanning this way does not means your files are absolutely free from any malware or viruses.
